Kata untuk menggambarkan transportasi dan travel:

1. Pull over: (of a vehicle) move to the side of or off the road. (menepi atau keluar dari jalan)

E.g. To resolve the fight between the two truck drivers, the policeman pulled over his vehicle. (Untuk menyelesaikan pertengkaran di antara kedua pengemudi truk, polisi menepikan kendaraannya.)

2. A commute (to commute): the journey to work (perjalanan ke tempat kerja)

3. Contraflow: a temporary arrangement where traffic on a road is transferred from its usual side to share the other half of the carriageway with traffic moving in the opposite direction. (pengaturan sementaraa saat lalu lintas di jalan dipindah dari sisi biasanya untuk berbagi sisi lainnya dengan lalu lintas bergerak pada arah yang berlawanan)

E.g. Contraflow is sometimes the main reason of traffic jam in city area. (Arus balik kadang kala menjadi alasan utama kemacetan lalu lintas di daerah kota.)

4. To beat the traffic: to leave somewhere earlier than others in order to avoid the traffic at the peak times of the day. (berangkat lebih awal dari yang lain untuk menghindari macet pada jam sibuk.)

E.g. I am going to leave at 6am to beat the traffic. (Saya akan berangkat pukul 6 pagi untuk menghindari macet.)

5. Rush hour: a time during each day when traffic is at its heaviest. (waktu saat lalu lintas sedang padat)

6. Congestion: when it becomes difficult to find a way and move ahead because of huge traffic, there is supposed to be a congestion. (saat sulit menemukan jalan dan terus melaju karena lalu lintas yng padat, pasti ada kemacetan)

E.g. In village areas, movements  of the cattle in the middle of the road often creates congestion. (Di daerah pedesaan, hewan ternak yang berjalan di tengah jalan sering menyebabkan kemacetan.)

7. Gridlock: a situation of very severe traffic congestion. (situasi lalu lintas yang sangat padat)

E.g. Gridlock is the main problem of traffic jam on Sunday evenings and festival times. (Kemacetan menjadi masalah utama lalu lintas pada Minggu malam dan waktu perayaan.)
